NEW DANCE COMPANY, EAST COAST CONTEMPORARY BALLET, LAUNCHES ITS PREMIER SEASON IN NEW YORK AND CONNECTICUT
BROOKLYN, New York – Co-Founders and Co-Artistic Directors Claire Mazza and Alejandro Ulloa launched their new company East Coast Contemporary Ballet this summer and are pleased to be having their premier season performed in both Connecticut and New York this fall.
You can see ECCB’s inaugural performance, Unveiled, at the Darien Arts Center, at 2 Renshaw Rd, Darien, CT 06820, on Friday, November 8 at 7:30 pm and at Gelsey Kirkland Arts Center, at 29 Jay St, Brooklyn, NY 11201, on Saturday, November 9 at 7:30 pm. A wine reception and the opportunity to meet the artists of East Coast Contemporary Ballet will follow both performances.
A company of six dancers, East Coast Contemporary Ballet will be premiering six new works in their inaugural program and restaging a previously performed duet by Co-Founder Claire Mazza. Diverse in both dance style and musical choice, Unveiled will showcase the versatility of its dancers, choreographers, and musicians. “Dance is by nature a collaborative art form. We are in perpetual collaboration with our fellow dancers, the music, the choreographer, our directors, ourselves in the mirror, and ultimately our audience. These artful conversations should be reflected in the work that we produce.” explains Mazza.
Offering a refreshing perspective on contemporary ballet and the wide range that this genre covers through a program of all original works, ECCB’s larger mission is to create new art-lovers through works audiences can appreciate and relate to, while nourishing the current dance community. Co-Founder Alejandro Ulloa recently announced that a portion of the tickets will be given away to members of the community who are not necessarily current dance fans already. “We need to be reaching people across age and ethnic groups who may not currently be familiar with dance, this is how we will cultivate and grow a new audience, and ultimately how our art form will prosper into the future.” Ulloa expresses.
Filling a void for a continually active innovative contemporary ballet company that serves the entire East Coast, ECCB has a wider scope than its founders or its artists—it is a vehicle through which art will continue to be generated, cultivated, and shared.
Join ECCB and immerse yourself in the captivating harmony of dance and music at Unveiled, November 8th and 9th in Darien, CT and Brooklyn, NY. Tickets to both shows are $35.00 and can be purchased through the website at eccballet.org/events/performances.
