Jaqlin Medlock

Photographer

Jaqlin received a BFA in Dance, with a minor in photography, from Marymount Manhattan College in 2007, after completing an internship with renowned photographer, Eduardo Patino. As a young dancer in search of a job she took to many side jobs in customer service, but quickly decided that she would rather play to her strengths of visual composition and entrepreneurial desires. Jaqlin wanted to pursue a dual career as a dancer and photographer. By the end of that year she founded her photography business, specializing in movement, and was working part time as a model and professionally as a dancer. A year later she became a ‘Preferred Vendor’ for STEPS ON Broadway and began to pursue other photographic opportunities. In December of 2011 her “Swimming Without Water” photo series was submitted to an International contest based in Dubai, called ‘Emergent Artist Award’. In the end Jaqlin’s series was placed 19th out of 100 worldwide, scoring only 24 points lower than 1st place for interpretation, technicality, and creativity. Since then, her work has been featured on the cover of Dancer Magazine and published in national and international publications including The New York Times, Dance Informa, Backstage, Dance Europe and Pointe Magazine. Jaqlin’s clients include dancers – ranging from beginners to professionals, fitness models, choreographers, dance companies, dance schools, dance-wear designers, retailers and magazines, as well as festivals, musicians, animals and corporations including Nissan and Volkswagen.
