Dorothea Garland

Originally of Framingham, MA, Ms. Garland received her early training from Annemarie Fairhurst and later Mara Shelton and Edra Toth of New England Ballet in Wayland, MA. She then studied Dance Education at Boston Ballet Center, followed by Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA, under the direction of Tauna Hunter.  While there, Ms. Garland had the opportunity to dance many classical and neo classical ballets, and to originate in various roles. Among her favorite were the Elegy lead in George Balanchine’s Serenade and Myrtha in Giselle opposite Marianna Tcherkassky and Wes Chapman. Ms. Garland later danced at Columbia Classical Ballet in South Carolina, and Jose Mateo’s Ballet Theatre in Cambridge, MA.  

Currently a New York-based artist, she has been dancing for Ballets with a Twist since 2006, and regularly performs with Continuum Contemporary Ballet and Cherylyn Lavagnino Dance. 

Ms. Garland’s recent collaborations include Juanjo Arques, David Fernandez, Gabrielle Lamb, Amy Seiwert, and Sebastian Plettenberg.
